Make Your Own Printed Circuit Boards

The printed circuit board or PCB was invented in the 1930s and has come to be used in all types of electronic devices such as toys, TVs, computers, cell phones and cars. In fact, there is virtually no electronic device being made today that does not have a PCB included in its construction.

If you are a hobbyist who enjoys building toys, radios or other types of electronics, you can get printed circuit boards from a PCB manufacturer or make them yourself. Making them yourself requires that you know and understand the fundamentals of PCB design. There are three main types of PCB construction: single-sided, double-sided and multi-layered. By conducting a search online you can easily find numerous guides and tutorials that can be used to learn to how to build your own PCBs and there is also software available that you could buy to help you test your design before you make a PCB to use.

Many hobbyists prefer to make their own circuit boards just to save themselves some money. Another advantage to creating your own is the fact that you can design them in any shape you wish so that they fit exactly into the type of device you are building.
